There isn’t a Smartway workation without an authentic experience that will allow you to learn more about the traditions of the village and leave you an indelible memory of your stay!
What will you do
There is a thing you need to know before we explain the experience: Every year, in a charming and magical medieval atmosphere, an unconventional race takes place in Montepulciano: a barrel race called “Il Bravìo delle Botti”. It’s a competition between the eight districts of the town. They fight over a painted cloth – namely “Il Panno” – by rolling empty wine barrels, weighing about 80 kg each, along an uphill path for over one kilometer. The barrels are pushed by two athletes known as “pushers”, while the route of the race unfolds along the picturesque streets of Montepulciano’s historical city centre, ending in the main Cathedral square “Piazza Grande”.
Well, you will have the chance to train with a local “Barrel Pusher”, starting with some physical activity such as running and walking in the streets around Montepulciano and at the end you will have the opportunity to try to push a barrel with Giacomo’s precious advice.
An unconventional experience that you could try only here!
It could be arranged in the morning before starting to work or in the afternoon to throw out all the stress accumulated during the day!
The activity will be customized based on your physical preparation, in this way everyone can participate 🙂
The meeting point will be the Sax Wine Bar in the town center or the main square Piazza Grande, it will be agreed with Giacomo after booking the experience.
