Peasant dinner with typical products and folk songs Core, Experiences Food & Drinks

Nocera Umbra

Following a popular tradition in central Italy, on the occasion of the birth of a child, the whole family would celebrate the event with a lunch or dinner “Cantando il Prosciutto” (meaning: starting to cut a whole ham) if a boy was born or the “Spalletta” (another kind of ham) in the case of a girl.

It was a real feast where the table was decorated and typical local products were served, prepared with love by the skilful hands of the women, there was music, folk dancing and stornelli. What we are proposing is not just a dinner, but a true experience of local popular culture!

What will you do

It will be a peasant dinner with typical products such as crescia, a type of bread very similar to piadina, ham, wild herbs, cheese and other typical products.
During dinner, you will be entertained by stornelli singers with the organetto and saltarello dancers, a popular dance, dressed in costume.
Dinner will be held in the large century-old kitchen of the “Santa Croce” tavern, a typical peasant kitchen from the early 20th century. The location will be set up as it was in the past, so that those moments can be fully experienced.
In the warmer months it will be held in the ‘Torre Vecchia’ square in front of the tavern.

Quite simply, it will be a memorable dinner!

N.B: This ancient building is not heated, so we recommend that you dress warmly in the colder months
