This ancient village was founded in the 15th century by an Albanian community that had fled their homeland because of Turkish raids. With them, the culture, tradition and language of origin also arrived in the territory, giving rise to one of the most important Arbëresh community in southern Italy.
The Arbereshe language and culture characterise this little town surrounded by nature.
The “Ponte del Diavolo” (Devil’s Bridge) and the “Case Kodra” (Kodra Houses) are just some of the attractions to visit.
Civita is immersed in the heart of the Pollino National Park, infact a few steps from the houses it is possible to practice trekking, climbing or long walks to regenerate body and mind.
In 10 minutes by car it is also possible to reach the Ionian Sea, whose crystalline waters have been awarded by the blue flag since 2014.
Civita is also famous for its food and wine. In its little restaurants you can taste the typical dishes of the traditional cuisine.
