Even today, this cheese is still widely used in Sicilian cuisine, think of the delicious Cannoli! Under the guidance of the shepherd you will learn about how to make “ricotta” from the sheep milk to cheese
What will you do
This experience will introduce you to cheesemaking techniques and allow you to make your own Sicilian ricotta cheese.
You will be welcomed by a local farmer and shepherd and then everyone will get down to work to learn how to make the tasty homemade ricotta. The workshop will begin with an explanation of the cheese making process.
You will start making you own homemade ricotta using the genuine sheep’s milk that they produce at the farm and the hot method. You will then enter the operational phase together to learn how to make Sicilian fresh ricotta.
After enjoying a ricotta cheese production phase with expert shepherd, it will be time to appreciate a special ricotta tasting with some fresh bread all together.
It will be just what you would expect if you had high expectations!
