Description

This suite is one of 5 suites located in a historical palace at a corner of Piazza Grande. The palace, which after the Council of Trento (1545-1563), was used as a bishop’s seminary, has had several owners including the famous Bellarmino family from which originated St. Roberto Bellarmino (also known as Bellarmino), Jesuit cardinal, bitter opponent of Galileo Galilei, and the Ricci family.

After centuries of decay and neglect by uncaring owners, in 1949 it it was finally restored and became the seat of the prestigious Italian School of Mosaic.

In the eighties, part of the building, completely renovated, was converted into a residence hotel.

Every spot of the palace recalls its history, in particular the remarkable entrance courtyard, paved with bricks, with round arches on two sides supported by travertine columns of Tuscan order and with a loggia above of Ionic order.

The past of these walls is kept intact for the pleasure of those who know how to appreciate the charm and magic in a serene and peaceful environment.

Accomodation

Each of the five spacious suites features a double bed, a private bathroom and a spectacular view on the valley.

It is the result of a careful restoration of a part of the family palace that has enhanced the original wooden ceilings, large windows and balconies overlooking the Val di Chiana below with views of the lakes Trasimeno, Montepulciano and Chiusi.

There are several common spaces such as the main hall at the entrance enriched with elegant sofas and antique forniture
